In this scripture, Paul calls attention to the phrase “do you not know.” This verse shows why sinning with the body is different from other sins – sin corrupts the temple of the Holy Spirit, the body of the believer. A temple is a place of worship. Our bodies, therefore, belong to God. We should not dishonor the gift and the giver by insult. Meaning the Holy Spirit in my temple; which dwelt in my heart, and influences my body, life, and conversation.

What is Christ-awareness?

Christian awareness means making notes about things around us, deciding how those things happen and, finally, taking required action when our conscience tells us that something needs to be reevaluated by God.

It is a challenge every day to not separate my belief in Jesus Christ and conform to the world. I try not to allow anything to remain in my life that is confusing. I ask the Lord to put awareness of Himself in me. I have to control my mind to beware of self-pity because self-pity is wicked.

Only ask the Lord to give you Christawareness, and He will steady you until your integrity in Him is complete. If we try to master our self-awareness by any of our commonsense practices, we will only serve to encourage our self-awareness.

Jesus says, “Come to Me, and I will give you rest,” that is what Christawareness means; to take the place of self-awareness. Wherever Jesus comes, He establishes rest— the rest of the achievement of the activity in our lives that is never aware of itself.

Christian awareness is the first step to Christian work. Wisdom and common sense dictate that a person should take care of their bodies. When you are healthy, you will have more energy to spread the Gospel and help others.
