I am on a personal journey to improving my health. In the past, I tried numerous diet plans. They worked but once I stopped following them the weight doubled. I had my annual physical, and one thing that has been a constant battle for me is Body Mass Index.The BMI is an attempt to quantify the amount of tissue mass (muscle, fat, and bone) in an individual. A weight-to-height ratio, calculated by dividing one’s weight in kilograms by the square of one’s height in meters and used as an indicator of obesity and underweight. Mine has always calculated obese. Now that I am getting up in age I feel that I genuinely need to pay attention to the numbers and correct the problem for my health. I sincerely plan to take this more serious and exercise and change my eating habits. My approach now will be to incorporate more fruit and veggies. I was leaning toward vegetarian or vegan, but the way my taste buds for “junk foods” is set up I struggle with making either of those lifestyles a reality.
