I didn’t know very much about menopause, and what I do know from life experience is that Menopause is no Joke. My first advice is to listen to your body symptoms and talk to your doctor and my second advice would be to educate yourself about menopause and take the necessary steps to make lifestyle changes that are beneficial to you during these midlife crises ahead in store for you.

For me, growing up menopause was never discussed by any family member. When I reached age 45, my body when through massive hormonal imbalance. But at the time I didn’t understand why. My knowledge of menopause was something I had to learn about on my own through experience and extensive research.

Like childbirth, menopause is a natural occurrence for women. The typical age of menopause is 51. The majority of women quit having periods around the ages of 45 to 55. The start stages of the female failing ovary function can begin years before that in some women. Others will continue to have menstrual periods into their late 50s.

Some women may experience menopause early in life, and others later in life. Some women experience hot flashes night sweats only, and others turn into mad women with a Jekyll-and-Hyde personality shift.

One obstacle I faced with my first doctor, is an unwillingness to accept herbs a healthy alternative for menopause relief. Luckily, I was able to find a second physician, naturopathic that understood, and I was able to talk to, and she did not dismiss possible herbal remedies or other types of less “conventional” methods such as yoga, acupuncture, hypnosis for menopause relief.

You will discover that one thing works well for your hot flashes but does nothing for your anxiety. So, you will have to find the right treatments that will give you the broadest relief possible.

So, know that experience is my best advice for menopause. Get educated, learn what is real and what is a myth, find an understanding doctor you can talk to openly, and most important know that Menopause Is No Joke and you will get through this midlife crises.

Reminder: the information I post is based on my life experience and is informational. Do your research!
