MY 3rd SET OF LOCS ANNIVERSARY
As I share my Journey regrowing my third set of LOCS and celebrating my second anniversary 3-19-2021. I am genuinely grateful that I stayed the course with patience, determination, and perseverance to regrow my hair.
Since February 6, 2006, age 47 years old, I have worn my natural hair for 15 years. I always wanted LOCS and began my first set of braids on December 17, 2008, age 49. I enjoyed my first Journey for six years and five months.
On May 2, 2015, at age 56. I decided to cut my “braid locs” because my edges had disappeared, and entire braids came out from the root. I was experiencing menopausal hair loss due to alopecia, so I did my second Big Chop. You can follow my first blog First Set Of LOCS – Braid Locs.

My second set of locs started with interlocks on December 26, 2016, at age 57. I was unsure if I would make it to one year without taking them down because of the interlock’s maintenance using the latch hook. I kept them until July 30, 2018, and did my third Big chop at 59 years old because my hair started to feel like cotton again, very weak and thinning due to stress and anxiety. In the beginning, the thinness and scalp look did bother me a lot. But as time passed, I embraced the thinness and scalp look. Since that time, the only monthly maintenance routine is to wash, condition, separate locs from joining, and greasing my scalp with essential oils. Plus adding more fruits and veggies smoothies, drinking more water, using herbal tea rinse and hair multivitamins.
