To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.
This scripture speaks of Paul’s commission towards the lost while encouraging believers and nonbelievers to accept the “good news” of God’s love. Each person needs to realize his/her need for Christ – “People need the Lord.” In other words, Satan’s power over people depends on him keeping them in darkness.
Knowing that the “eyes of understanding,” is rendered through having that Spiritual, personal relationship with GOD and truthing and believing in GOD All Mighty. Eyes shut are considered darkened, and blind: to have them opened, is to have them enlightened, to see the lost state and condition of the world sins. Spiritually we are to be obedience, to God; for that is where our help comes peace, pardon, grace, glory, and salvation. For the doctrines of the Gospel, is key to hope in a world so lost? No amount of good living will make us acceptable in God’s eyes because the standard is holiness, without which no one will see God.
I Pray:
Father, I give all praise to you! You are mighty to save me out of the control of darkness by Your mighty hand. Let me come into your marvelous light, the light of Your eternal Kingdom. Open my heart and mind to the light of Your Truth. I thank you, Lord, that whoever You set free is free indeed. AMEN
